Instant Pot Pizza Pasta Sauce Recipe

Instant Pot Pizza Pasta Sauce Recipe
We have a pizza oven on our patio, and I find myself entertaining family and friends often for pizza. I always set up a tray of pizza toppings – pepperoni, sausage, ham, green peppers, jalapenos, mushrooms, onions, green and black olives, and pineapple. Because I don’t want to be skimpy, I put more out than is needed and am always stuck with lots of leftovers. I decided to use the leftovers to make a pizza flavored pasta sauce, and it turned out so good, I now love to put out extra toppings so I can use them in the following Instant Pot Pizza Pasta Sauce, which is yummy over pasta with cheese sprinkled on top. I also use it for Italian Nachos, which are delicious.

I love this sauce over spaghetti and angel hair pasta, but it is also good over other pasta, and is great for layered baked pasta dishes. The recipe makes enough for dinner and enough extra to fill a few freezer bags so it’s available whenever you want it. It’s actually a module that is great for meal prep and having enough sauce in the freezer in bags to use it whenever you like.

24 Servings

6 to 8 ounces pepperoni slices
6 to 8 ounces cooked Italian sausage
4 to 6 ounces lean ham, diced
1 cup chopped onion
1 cup chopped green bell pepper
1/2 cup sliced green olives
1/2 cup sliced black olives
1/4 cup fresh jalapeno peppers, sliced
1 cup sliced mushrooms

4 28 oz. cans spaghetti sauce
28 ounces water, (1 can)

  1. Place the pepperoni in the bottom of the pan of the Instant pot. Turn the pot to the saute setting and let the pepperoni cook for a minute or two until there is a bit of fat in the pan.
  2. Add the remaining pizza topping ingredients (as many or few as you have), and stir until heated through. Add the spaghetti sauce and water; stir.
  3. Cover the pot, set the valve to sealing, and set to pressure cook for 20 minutes. When the cycle has finished, release the pressure, stir and serve or pack into freezer bags, label and freeze.
