Free Charity Quilt Pattern - Brick

Free Charity Quilt Pattern - Brick

I like this pattern I call the brick. It’s a very simply made block using strips to create. Once the blocks have been sewn up, it’s just a matter of joining them in a particular way to achieve a tremendously bright, vibrant quilt for very little effort.

This quilt looks best when a single solid fabric is used outside a novelty fabric or if you wish outside many different novelty fabrics . Alternatively, a single solid and single patterned fabric looks great too!

This Quilt measures 66 in high and 54 in wide which makes up to a single bed quilt.

I will give you instructions to make two different quilts. The first is making an I Spy Quilt (Quilt A) using a single solid and lots of different I spy fabrics. The second will be using a single solid and single patterned fabric (Quilt B).

QUILT A

FABRIC REQUIREMENTS

2 3/8 yd of solid fabric
88 x 2 ½” x 6 ½” strips of novelty or I Spy fabrics

CUTTING INSTRUCTIONS

Solid Fabric:
Cut 33 x 2 1/2” wide strips (Width of Fabric) and then cut these strips in 197 2 1/2” x 6 1/2” rectangles.
I Spy Fabric:
Cut 99 x 2 1/2” x 6 1/2” rectangles

MAKING A BLOCK

Sew one solid rectangle to either side of an I Spy rectangle. This should create a block that measures 6 1/2” x 6 1/2” square.
Continue to make blocks until all rectangles have been used. This should make 99 blocks.

SEWING THE BLOCKS INTO ROWS

A Row is made up of 9 blocks across. Set up the first row to match the first row of the quilt picture above.

Set up the second row to match the second row of the quilt picture above. Continue in this manner till you have all the blocks sewn together into rows, and all the rows sewn together into a quilt top.
